Track Facebook Links by Page and Post
Keep link creation, publishing-domain selection, click tracking and attribution connected to the Facebook publication that generated the traffic.
Tracked link published across Facebook Pages
Create a link you can connect to a publication
A Facebook link tracker records requests to a tracked destination URL. In Upnext’s publishing workflow, the useful context is the Page and publication associated with that link.
Prepare the article or landing-page URL, choose the publishing domain used for that workflow, enable Upnext click tracking when needed, and apply consistent UTM tracking before publishing.
Keep Page copies distinguishable
When one article goes to several Pages, a single unlabelled URL can make later attribution unclear. Keep the Page and publication associated with the tracked link so you can compare the resulting activity.
The same pantry article is published on a recipes Page and a household-tips Page. A distinguishable link for each Page copy lets you compare their click activity without changing the article itself.
Use dynamic UTM labels for website reporting
UTM parameters label the destination for your website analytics. They do not count clicks by themselves. Use a consistent convention for source, campaign and content, and preserve any required query parameters already in the URL.
For a complete example, see how to track Facebook traffic by Page and post. The UTM generator can help build a labelled destination.
Check the destination before scheduling
- Open the final destination and confirm that it loads.
- Check that the article matches the caption and first comment.
- Review the selected Pages and link configuration.
- After publication, verify the link on the published Page copy.
If you use a branded domain, confirm that its setup is complete before publishing a campaign. A branded hostname is a link-management choice, not a guarantee of Facebook distribution.
Understand what a click count means
Clicks, sessions and unique readers are different measures. Repeated clicks, automated requests or a destination that fails to load can make totals differ. Do not infer a visitor’s identity or a completed conversion from a click alone.
Use Facebook Traffic Analytics to compare the results across Pages and posts. This page covers the link setup; the analytics workflow helps you decide what to do with the results.
